allthough i have never died while trying to grab a gold from a chest

i have however just open the chest and ran away from it (the mob was huge and i was tired ) the were gold daggers

yeah has happen a lot of times when i solo farm but i just run back and get it if i can but yeah in mission is a bit tricky but hey most golds are bad anyway...

I've laid dead more than a couple of times with gold items or shards in FoW dying just as I was grabbing for it. I make a point of finishing off the mob before picking up my drops. I hate it when people in the middle of a fight run into a mob to get their drop.

riverside province, a very long time ago, back in the days when runes were still worth a lot. i was doing the bonus and one of the watchtower guards dropped a gold armor for me. but the drop was not over the stairs, where you can actually grab it, but on the back of the watchtower. im still convinced it was a superior absorption.

3 ecto drops in UW in a friggin row...that 55 I was with was so busy congratulating he forgot he had to stay alive to get it...than he died, smites came at me like monkeys after bananas and killed me, ectos were like 16k back than o.o

I remember dying right next to Rago's Flame Wand (when it was worth 80k-ish).... and then Orozar died and it was lost.

After that we just decided not to die anymore and that solved that.

Ran up to a chest with my warrior.
Had a mob beating on me.
Used key and a gold drops
When i tried to pick it up "inventory full message"
Before I could drop something and pickup gold item i was flatlined...lol

Yea, happened to me a couple of times. Lost a Victo's Axe, an ecto, and some other greens that way. Both times some person w/o scruples stole them

Gates of Kryta- farming (solo)

2 black dyes dropped and i died as i was running to get them. Been back many time to farm, but no other black dyes. I was...... moderately upset at the time.

Would be nice, like the end of a mission sometimes, if you are defeated, to be able to claim your uncollected items after you return to the base. That way everyone focuses on killing, instead of making sure you grab your stuff in the middle of a fight.

Never happend to me. (/point /laugh /taunt)
But once i was the only survivor in my group, and had used res sig. A gold item had dropped, and it said it wasnt assigned to anyone. This monk said it were assigned to him(and the party agreed), so i cast Troll Ungent and hit Storm Chaser while rushing the best i can into the mob, to get his gold item for him. I click it: "This item is assigned to another player" (Or something along the line)... I die before i can retreat and the monk suddenly dont like me anymore.... Yay for bugs. He deserved to loose it >_<

One day I decided to try a build I put together for a first IDS solo-run. I had used it successfully on the Ice Imps in Ice Flow (if my memory is right) so I was psyched to try. I got up there to the cave in Mineral Springs no problem. I killed the Imps outside the cave but when I went inside I screwed up and got toasted by the Imps. So I sprinted back up there after respawning to try again. I killed a few Imps and at the point that I got killed again one of them drops a gold max damage fellblade. On my way to run back up there with a -30% DP I get stuck trying to go between a giant and a rock wall and the giants flatten me with a barrage of boulders. Ugh-oh this isn't good. By the time I get past the giants again I'm -60%. If I don't get that fellblade I'm gonna freak out! So I get up there to the cave again but some Imps have come out aways past where the blade is. At this point all I want is to sprint in and grab the sword. I get within clicking distance and I die again. Several tries after that I finally get my fellblade.

One other time I was outside post-sear Ascalon over by that group of Charr near the bridge. I decided to run in there and kill them. Two of them drop dye which was a purple and a silver. Before I could go pick them up I got err=7'd. That sucked. LOL.

I was in one of the Fire Island missions (Abbadons Mouth I think) and a gold armor dropped off one of the Mursaat just before we all got killed and I was pissed having to click on the Return To Outpost button.

Ahh yes. Twas a dark stormy night in Melandru's Hope, my companions were driven mad by the terrors of the dark and could hardly sustain their magics. I then saw a rare chest in the horizon....Awww who the hell am I kidding?

I was running around with the dumbass monk henches and I saw a chest so I ran up to it, aggroing 2 mobs and I THINK a mod of Oni on the way. I was going to use endure pain when my health reached 50% but then my pet died and all my skills recharged, so I ended up dead on the floor right next to a Golden req 8 platinum bow. Luckily after a damned 50 trillion tries and deaths, I got to the bow.

Turned out to be a +15% vs hexed sundering 20/20 of marksmanship, which wasnt bad at all.

need a petition signed for ANET to change it to where if you die in a mission like that you still get your loot when you return to the outpost. it would really eliminate alot of stress from players that are playing this game to have fun. what kind of fun is it to lose a gold item that you paid 1.5k for a key to open the lousy chest? none at all.

Hah! It just happened to me...

I was doing Hell's bonus, when, all of a sudden, a rare Mursaat bow drops, I immediately run up to it -I wanted it alot :P- but, then, I start to lag, jump past it, henchies all die, I am almost there...then!...I slowly die from burning...

I was chest farming in Ring of Fire w/ my Necro. I typically took the two monk hench and Eve along so I could get healed and BR'd whilst spiking the Mursaat. At some point the hench got killed and I was alone and this was the situation:

1. I had Rebirth on the bar since I was N/Mo.
2. I was a short walk back to the henchies w/ some Mursaat patrols in the way. I could have possibly made it back to Rebirth them.
3. I was within sight of a chest guarded by two Jade Warriors.

What did I do...

1. I ran for the chest.
2. Got it open.
3. Saw a req. 8 Mursaat Hornbow drop.
4. Promptly got ganked by the Jades before I could pick it up.

req 8!!!
